A little finding/note: If you use FFDShow audio decoder you should always disable the internal Jitter correction of the decoder (can be found in the decoder options) as it can cause stutter if you use it with the new dshowhelper/MPAudioRenderer.

Could you post a log about that stuttering? I'm just wondering if the jitter correction is playing around with the sample presentation times. At least the renderer will consider some data to be dropped if the sample times are varying too much (after all the jitter correction has no effect on the MP audio renderer since it will render a constant stream of PCM samples. Timestamps cannot affect in anything else than the starting of a stream - after a play / pause / seek).

Also a small smaple would be nice - since I'm sure lot of people have that option turned on so it would be nice to allow the ffdshow to think that it is correting possible jitter but still allow MP audio renderer to work correctly. Most likely we can finetune the dropped data detection to be a bit more forgiving (hopefully not too much ).

I seem to have that jitter correction enabled, but I guess I haven't seen a "correct" sample media file that would trigger the issue.

Mhm thats interesting. I use FFDShow and the jitter correction is activated. But I cannot confirm that yet... I deactivate it now and will see if there is any change...

I cannot confirm that. I've the jitter correction because if a default for ffdshow. I've no problem with dshowhelper and reclock on my htpc (except in some test on the secondary monitor) I'll try to disable when I'll switch permanently to mpaudiorenderer

Here's a test version that overrides the channel mask that the audio decoder is giving for 5.1. This should be only nescessary for Xonar - or any other audio card that shows following in the WASAPI_test.exe output. Mainly only the 1551 for 6 channel audio.

The best WASAPI drivers that I have seen are coming from MS. They just work

Could be driver or HW limitation. I wouldn't update the drivers if they work since:

1) you can use ffdshow to resample the audio always to 48.0 Khz - this is most likely many times better in quality wise than the HW / driver resampling would be

2) MP audio renderer will learn to handle the resampling automatically at some day (not too distant future I would say) - this will be on same quality level as ffdshow's resampling and will be done only when HW is incapable of playing the 1:1 stream format

It works The new audio renderer is in the chain now.

But there are a lot of clicks . The sound is not good.
