I'm currently installing MediaPortal but it says that I don't have DirectX installed but already have DirectX 11 . Is there a way around it downloading DirectX 9c which is taking a while to dowload even though I won't need it in the end?

:D

Mediaportal is DX9 application. You have to install it even if you have DX10 or DX11 already installed

    romuz is right.
DirectX is not completely downwards compatible.
So you have to install DirectX9 to run MP regardless of other DX versions you have already installed.

Unfortunately this is a Microsoft thing and we can't do anything about that.
