MediaPortal Crashes on first remote button press after turning on TV. (1 Viewer)

This is a very strange problem that has been persisting for some time now; I finally decided to make logs to post & find a solution.

I'm on Windows 8.1 x64; MediaPortal 1.6.0.

This is the only time MediaPortal crashes, and the following is exactly how it happens:

1. Turn on TV
2. Press a button on the remote; any button - enter item or move to next item, it doesn't matter.

MediaPortal runs 24/7 on my HTPC, so let's say yesterday I watched an episode of a TV show; after the episode finishes & I turn off the TV for the night - when I come back to watch TV the next day, obviously I'm on the episodes list for that TV Show. Whether I press Back or Enter or just move up & down the list - whatever next command I issue - MediaPortal crashes.

This does not happen 100% of the time; but I would say it happens 85% of the time now. Once it crashes, and I click the usual "Close Program" (Windows Notification), MediaPortal restarts automatically & continues as normal.

Logs are attached. Appreciate any advise.

In short, the crash is in the Windows audio subsystem. I suspect the crash occurs when MP tries to play a navigation sound. From an MP perspective the way I read the logs there is no audio device available.
The RX-A2000 is your AMP or TV I suppose. Is that on at the time... and do you turn it (+ any other gear - projector, TV etc.) on before you go to use MP?
Do you use the Intel or Realtek audio?

This may be an HDMI issue. I'd recommend to update your drivers. If the issue persists, disable the hardware that you're not using.

If the problem is that there is no audio device available in the system, try enabling the motherboard audio (if you have it) as a fallback or see this post - https://forum.team-mediaportal.com/...o-device-available.120843/page-4#post-1061479 - for an alternative software 'fallback' audio device.

In short, the crash is in the Windows audio subsystem. I suspect the crash occurs when MP tries to play a navigation sound. From an MP perspective the way I read the logs there is no audio device available.
The RX-A2000 is your AMP or TV I suppose. Is that on at the time... and do you turn it (+ any other gear - projector, TV etc.) on before you go to use MP?
Do you use the Intel or Realtek audio?

This may be an HDMI issue. I'd recommend to update your drivers. If the issue persists, disable the hardware that you're not using.

I'm very well - hope you've been doing great.

You're definitely on the right track here; I can see that from the logs. Let me explain my entire setup in a little detail, as something in all of that appears to be the culprit and it might help you understand it better.

My HTPC (MediaPortal 1.6.0 / Windows 8.1 x64) is connected to a Yamaha RX-A2000 Receiver via HDMI.
The Yamaha RX-A2000 Receiver is connected to an Epson 5010 Projector via HDMI.

So essentially, HTPC sends both audio & video to the Yamaha Receiver; Yamaha receiver sends video to the Projector and audio to its' connected speakers. Which also means that if the receiver is not turned on, I do not get any sound.

I use the Intel Audio & Video on the HTPC. The HDMI cable is plugged into the Intel HDMI port.
Realtek is the onboard audio on the motherboard, but I have it disabled.
I use the LAV Filters for everything and the "default audio device", which is Intel, is setup as the audio device.

The HTPC is always on, I typically turn on the Projector first (this is because the lamp takes a couple of minutes to actually turn on another minute or so to warm up to full brightness) and the Receiver; however, both remote controls are in my hand and I instinctively press the On button on both and then wait for the projector lamp to heat up - so I can't state with certainty which device turns on first.
HOWEVER, at the time I actually use the remote to move or enter a selection, BOTH the Projector & Receiver are fully turned on & operating.

Intel's drivers are fully updated - I always keep them updated.

I'm not clear why the Audio device isn't available to MP as all the devices are on & operating when I go to press anything on the remote. Not sure what to do to counter this either.

Here's a screenshot of my "Codecs & Renderer" page in the MediaPortal Configuration. Currently for "Audio Renderer" I have "Default DirectSound Device" selected. I wanted to show you other options available to me ... maybe I need to select something else. The drop down shows all the options I have.
