Mediaportal Freeview HD New Zealand not working (1 Viewer)

Hello people,

I was wondering if anybody can help me with my media pc.
Last year I purchased and put together all the necessary parts
for making a HTPC but for some reason I have never been able to get it fully working.
The problem I have is in regards to the TV side of MediaPortal.
I can listen to music fine, watch videos and movies fine but whenever it comes to TV I have problems.
Basically I think I have tried almost every possible settings combination but I could have missed a few
that will save the day but I doubt it.
My problem is that everytime I want to watch TV, Freeview HD here in New Zealand, or even record a show, after less

than 1 minute the pictures
begin to lag really bad and go out of sync and then eventually the whole thing just locks up. I have Powercinema
installed so tried using the Cyberlink H.264 codec and even that doesn't work. After reading a few of the forum

posts I am starting to think that mybe my graphics card is not up to the task. Anyway I have posted my machine

setup below and if anybody can help that would be much appreciated

Can I suggest you set the logging level (in MP config) to 'debug' and then run the MP log collector (in the MP program group) - attach the zip file it creates to your post.

Which version of MP are you using ?

Thanks for your reply. I am using MediaPortalSetup_1.1.0_BETA-1_rev23491. I thought that was the latest version so grabbed it.
I done the logging tests you asked for. The zip file is attached. All gobbledegook to me!!

Make sure you have EVR selected under MP config -> advanced mode. (Vista must use EVR for DXVA)
I think that powercinema h264 codec doesn't do DXVA (hardware acceleration). You need the full version of PDVD codec. Try google "HD PACK 2.2".
Having said that i'm not familiar with your IGP and if it supports DXVA. If it is borderline you may be better using MP1.0 Final.
Press shift+! when you are watching freeview, what is the avg fps/dropped frames percentage/jitter.
You should also run graphstudio and see what codecs are being used when you watch freeview.

The 'TsReader.log' is showing a lot of 'continuity' errors i.e. DVB stream corruptions - is your TV reception OK ?

You could also try updating the nVidia video drivers - and as kiwijunglist suggested, EVR is the recommended renderer for Vista.

i am pretty sure that the bundled powercinema codec is not dxva compliant, you need powerdvd codec.

Kiwijunglist I have 3GB of memory installed so surely that is heaps is it not??
Anyway I followed your instructions and made the following changes. As far as my TV reception goes it is perfect. Using the same aerial with a normal TV gives near perfect pictures. The pictures I get with Freeview HD on MP are crisps too but like I say they just start lagging and going out of sync after less than a minute.
I have installed new grapichs drivers and done the foloowing;
OK i downloaded the HD Pack 2.2 and installed it then changed the h.264 codec in MP Config to the latest Cyberlink V9 codec. Selected EVR and that seemed to make it much worse. It froze up completely instantly. I then took the tick off the hardware acceleration under the Direct Show/ PowerDVD Section of the MP config and that worked for about 2 minutes then it started to jump everywhere again.
When I used shift+! for about 5 minutes these are the results
EVR - 5.99 - 3.39
AVG FPS - 29-33
DRAWN - 20925
DROPPED - 790
JITTER - -6 to 60

All of these parameters were flucuating continually over the 5 minute period.
I downloaded and ran graphstudio but could not get it to work with MP.

well you obviously have a problem somewhere, dropped frames too high, jitter too high, fps too low.
does your gfx card support dxva?

Pretty certain that the NVIDIA GeForce 7100 does not support h.264 DXVA
