Mediaportal freezes on Initializing DirectX splash screen (1 Viewer)

I'm using MP on Vista and every time I start the program, the splash screen "Initializing DirectX" comes up and just freezes.

I've looked at the other similar threads on this forum, but the solutions either don't apply, or I've tried them to no avail (e.g. installed the hotfix).

Can anyone help me with this?

update your gfx drivers, and reinstall directx nov2008, i had expierence with a shuttle box which had sis gfx chipset and wouldnt run MP ended up buying a dedicated gfx card which was the best thing to have done

also stating your system spec's helps alot as well

This is in your error log: 2009-03-28 11:16:10.869902 [ERROR][MPMain]: !!! MediaPortal needs to be run as Administrator on Vista to stop the Media Center services that occupy your TV cards/remote control !!!
