Hi,

I have been a happy user of MP since many years and since I tried to change from 1.1.0 B4 (which was working fantastic btw) to MP 1.1 RC1/RC2 I just experience freeze problems all the time.
Mostly I find MP frozen after not using it for a couple of hours - specially after a scheduled recording. If I am lucky, the recording was completed, but 90% of the times I found MP client frozen and no recording. Just killing the Mediaportel.exe does help to recover, but I also need to kill tvservice.exe even though it looks like its running (normally taking about 60 - 80 Kb of RAM). Restarting TVservice does not help unless I first kill the PID. Then I can start TVservice like normal and watch. Sometimes the Tv do freeze in the middle of watching.

Disabling XMLTV plugin in Mediaportal tv setup removes the error message attached. I did not have time trying MP for a longer period without XMLTV, but I feel it's essential to have it since I need my daily import of XMLTV program schedule.

Code:
2010-04-25 21:56:40.263245 [TVService(5)]: Exception   :System.ArgumentException: Illegal characters in path.
   at System.IO.Path.CheckInvalidPathChars(String path)
   at System.IO.Path.IsPathRooted(String path)
   at TvEngine.XmlTvImporter.CheckNewTVGuide()
   at TvEngine.XmlTvImporter.Start(IController controller)
   at TvService.Service1.StartPlugins()

2010-04-25 22:07:08.537511 [(16)]: Exception :System.AccessViolationException: Attempted to read or write protected memory. This is often an indication that other memory is corrupt.
   at TvLibrary.Interfaces.Analyzer.ITsEpgScanner.Reset()
   at TvLibrary.Implementations.DVB.TvCardDvbBase.get_Epg()

I tested my RAM successfully.

I installed my single seat from bear metall with a fresh O/S and a fresh install of a one click install. I also tried the x64 W7 with the same error and even more freezes.

I will report back if disabling XMLTV will eliminate my freezes.

Thanks!

Thanks for the quick answer.

Regarding XMLTV:
C:\ProgramData\Team MediaPortal\MediaPortal TV Server\xmltv is my path. It includes spaces but that is not an illigal character I assume.

Here is my latest full log file

    It appears that you are using tvguide.lst
    Can you post that file? Probably one of the paths in tvguide.lst contains illegal characters.

    Hi again,
    I tried to swap temporary to lst but I removed it since it was still the same problem.
    If I remember it correctly, I tried to empty the program in the database and remove the latest tvguide.xml. I still got the error message while I started tvservice.exe.

    Now I will try to upgrade xmltv.exe to 0.57 since I saw I was using 0.56, but I doubt this is the root cause here.

    I wiped my MP and started from scratch.
    After adding XMLTV again I get an error during the initial import. One error message disappeared but it introduced a new one. So far one lockup only. I scheduled some recordings now so I will update this thread tomorrow.
    I will also check how my scheduled import at 4 AM will do tomorrow.

    I attached a new collection of log files.

    It's working fine here.

    This is in my tvguide.lst file:

    D:\EPGgrabbing\CanalDigitaal\tvguide.xml
    D:\EPGgrabbing\grab-jstvcouk\tvguide.xml
    D:\EPGgrabbing\RAI\tvguide.xml
    D:\EPGgrabbing\Sky-Digital-BBC-London-ITV-London\tvguide.xml
    D:\EPGgrabbing\TVxb\tvguide.xml

    For just to make sure I've put a xmltv.dtd file in the directory of tvguide.lst file and also all tvguide.xml directories.

    The recording last night did not work. No new errors in the TV server error logs, but indeed in the mediaportal logs. Please find them attached.

    Always post full logs. Posting just error.log doesn't help a bit. Errors have to be examined in context.
