Mine is also stopping at the Initializing DirectX as well. Except I am on a fresh install in Win7. So I have the standard background and aero and everything. I thought it had something to do with the in and out of standby modes I was doing. I guess I will try to put a Delay on it and hopefully that will fix it.

I just did some testing. When I resume from S3 as long as I log in before mediaportal actually starts it goes through. But Mediaportal starts right when it hits the log on screen. So if I take any time at all to log in it errors. If I set it to 10 second delay it does give me that extra time to log in though.

Is there any way to setup windows to automatically login when I resume from standby? Is setting it to restart after a resume from standby needed? I do have an nvidia card which is what it says it fixes.

thanks for that....so simple cant believe I didnt see that option when I was setting up my accounts. I will try it out tomorrow I believe that will fix all my problems with MP stopping when I resume...prob wont even need a delay any more....maybe ill set it to 5 sec.

Wow... I've been living with this stupid bug for months now. I too had the solid black background. I never would have thought that all I needed was to add one of their lame themes hahaha.

Well done sir!

Just tested the reg fix. I also have a solid color black background on my windows 7 on my two HTPC's and they both suffer from the DirectX hang, although I figured this was since RC1, but...
The regfix seems to do the trick on the first PC, going to test it on my second HTPC soon. It did require me to create the registry key (needs to be a DWORD). What changed on the windows part is that indeed the welcome screen now disappears after 5 seconds and shows me a empty screen till the shell is loaded.
I figure that in some cases MP is allready started before the welcome screen releases the environmont, and this delay limit releases the environment in time again.
