Mediaportal is getting slower (1 Viewer)

Hi I just did a fresh install this Wednesday, and everything was working very fast and smooth back then, but now just a few days later it seems to be slowing down. The reason for the fresh install was that it was getting extremely slow, and since it seems to be starting all over again I'm starting to wonder what I'm doing wrong.

Might be worthwhile changing some of your views to database instead of shares, especially with large music\videos collections.

There's also some speed improvements coming for tsreader (thanks gemx) which will hopefully help the overall feel of things.

Thank you for deleting the misspost. Currently I'm only using My TV-Series, My Films and TVEngine, is there a database/shares setting for those? I'm not using the built in video/music/pictures stuff atm.

But is it normal that it gets slower as time goes by? Last time I had a similar experience I have had with computers was when I was playing Anarchy Online and it had a memory leak.

I had that behavior for a long time now. MP seems to get slower and slower. I run MP on a PC that is running 24/7 and after a few MP run / kill / run / kill / run / kill the animation inside MP are getting less and less smooth. As soon as I reboot the PC MP is smooth again.

I have got this on my Vista install, and has only suddenly appeared, After i installed a plugin and then uninstalled it shortly after, and since MP is not playing smoothly at all.

Have exactly the same setup on xp (dualboot), including same database, svn etc, and it is absolutely fine.

So it looks like a clean install is on the cards for me when i get time, will just use xp for now.

The problem I have is on XP and I had it for a long time even with different version / plugins etc.

I'm surprised that not more people are experiencing that. It's like MP was not completely disposing of the graphics objects when closing.

I got the same problem with alle SVNs, now with RC1. I have to reboot the PC about once a day.

Any ideas anybody?

well i have this problem about once evry 3 months or so
even changed my graphics cards at one point as wasslowing all my tv, music
well all of it to a slow thing
anyway
i found the cure for me
the TV DB was getting to big
so went in to the config emptyied the DB via the button and now all fine(do not delete the DB from the file system or you will lose your save channels)
just need to do this every couple of months
and all fine for me

I can confirm this behaviour. When i checked with Task Manager what prevents my System from going into standby, i saw that the MSSQL DB process took about 700+ MB of memory. MediaPortal wasnt running only TV Service. On another occasion it grew to 550+ MB.

I usually put my HTPC into standby (vs. rebooting).
