Hello,
I have got a problem with my hauppauge 45 button remote. It just doesn't work. What I did:

I started config and selected use hauppauge remote (the ir.exe was running as normal).
I closed config and started Mediaportal, remote wasn't working.
So I went back to config to look for a problem and once it was loaded, the ir.exe symbol in the system tray disappeared.
Closing config let it reappear. And if I start Mediaportal in window mode it is the same, once it is running, ir.exe isn't and closing MP will make ir.exe run...

Only way to get both running is to unselect "use hauppauge remote" in config. Starting MP or config won't kill ir.exe then.

Does anybody know what is going on here? I added a log file but I did not find any hint in there.

Usually I don't use smilies but now I just need to -->

I just noted that extensive logging might be useful so I selected that and here is the 2nd log file.

Alright, thanks for your answer. I just tried out a dvb-t stick from hauppauge that can also read ir signals and it works with it. I just guess the ir controller of the pci card is broken or so.

I tried mine for about three weeks then stuck it in the drawer in favour of a original mce remote, never looked back.

the haup remote is just fine, out of the box i found it better than the mce remote(more keys).
although when i last used it(moved to x10) i found you don't need the ir.exe file at all as long as you are only using MP, and remember to remove all other entries for the 36 button remote etc from the haupauge.xml file

I tried that all that, but my remote does not behave like it should. I got a Nova-T PCI and a Nova-T stick, on the PCI one the receiver doesn't work at all and if I point it at the sticks receiver it behaves very curiously, it even works in windows without ir.exe running. I can use the navigation buttons and some other, but it seems like the remote is working more like those extra keys on keyboards (play, pause, mute, and so).

what os are you using, some of the haups had a problem with win xp sp3, look for usbfix 2180.
the haup socket for the pci cards is not well placed, make sure the jack is going into the socket fully and not catching on the side strip of the pci slot.
the detection in windows is curious, afaik the haups don't use the hid/keyboard drivers which is what sounds like is happening here as they don't normally respond at all without ir.exe running.
try removing the usb stick all together and setting up the remote on the pci card before installing the usb to see if there is a conflict.

I do use win xp sp3, that might be the problem...although I cannot find a usbfix 2180 anywhere. Any hint?
The jack is sitting in right and is not at all catching the case.

still on my hdd, think this is the "official" version from haup, can't seem to find instructions tho,
go thru the various usb dll files and note version numbers, run the exe and see if they have changed, i do have a version with batch files written but can't find at mo, let me know if you would prefer that.
