    Hi,

I also got a Hauppauge Remote with which the same happens.
So when I pressed the "Back"-button on those remotes I can see that MP loses the focus and not all keys on my remote do work until I pressed the "greenMCE" button.
What is really strange is that I thought that the "back" button imitates the "Escape"-key on the keyboard, but when I press this key on the keyboard MP does not lose focus...

    can anybody help?
    Thanks in advance

have you got any related hauppague software / remote software installed, it could be something else is stealing focus. If MP isn't in focus, what is?

pressing the back button does not emulate the escape key, even though it does the same function in MP.

    what is MCEV2?

MCEV2 is the Microsoft Media Center Remote Version 2.
No I did not isntall any other software. In fact the Hauppauge Remote uses the receiver from the MCE. Also the problem already existed when I got the Hauppauge, but pressing the backbutton on the Hauppauge does the same effect.

When no other program is running, MP just loses the focus. I.e. the highlighting of the symbol of MP in the taskbar gets away.

Thank you, I did that. Unfortunately I only have one HTPC ;) And I already tried that.
So sometimes I want to use the Computer when my girlfriend wants to watch TV, so unfortunately no working solution.

I did a clean re-install of MP 1.16 and unfortunately I do have that error again.
I do not remember how I fixed it the last time :-(

Here is an extract from MediaPortal.log
I pushed the EPG button once, and the back button once

I don't think the problem is related to MP. MP will not intentionally lose focus. Check the other programs that are running on your PC.

What is really strange is that I thought that the "back" button imitates the "Escape"-key on the keyboard, but when I press this key on the keyboard MP does not lose focus...
Back button on genuine MCE remote sends the "Browser Back" command rather than Escape.
Multimedia keyboards often have that "browser back" key too, you could try that if you have such a keyboard.

The logs do show that MP is loosing focus for some reason. I reckon you could disable HID remote handler in MP1 configuration which would make your remote back button unusable in MP. Then bring MP to the foreground, push back button and see if it looses focus again. If it does loose focus it's definitely not an issue with MP1 but a third party application causing this behaviour.

Do you have things like Microsoft intellimouse software, I vaguely remember tracking it done to this at some point?
It could also be caused by Logitech SetPoint or other software capable of taking custom actions upon back button press.

    Hi,
I think you gave me a correct hint.
    I will check this out...
    Got a M$ Keyboard and a Logitech mouse ;-)

When I deactivate HID in the MP Config.
Have the TV running and the EPG open. MP has the focus.
Push the back button on the MCE V2 remote
-> My open browser moves back :-D
