MediaPortal not Rendering any Video (1 Viewer)

Hello everyone,

I've been using MediaPortal for a few years now (most recently v0.2.3.0) and have been quite happy with it so I decided to give version 1.0 a shot.

Unfortunately the upgrade hasn't gone so well. I cannot get and video to render at all. I can view the list of my video files but trying to view them does nothing. The same goes for DVDs and Television channels.

The TV server will record the shows and I can watch them in Windows Media Player. My video files will also play in Media Player but not in MediaPortal.

I've gone so far as to format the hard drive and start fresh with a clean install of Windows XP Pro SP3 (with all updates) and I've updated all of my drivers as well as having installed the latest ffdshow codecs. I've tried both the ffdshow as well as the MPV codecs on VMR9 and EVR with now luck. The installation will play audio files without issue so I figure the problem lies with the video rendering.

The ERROR.LOG and MEDIAPORTAL.LOG files from a recent attempt are attached to this message.

If anyone can offer a suggestion I'd appreciate it. I love the look of the new version and certainly hope I don't have to go back to a previous version.

Thanks in advance,

-Gord

Try using the powerdvd codec, you can download a trial of it (doesn't matter if it expires as you can still use it)
this codec does seem the best at the moment for playback, also go back to using VMR9 on XP
which ffdshow are you using, use ffdshow tryouts for audio

lets us know how you go

Thanks, that did the trick... I had an old version of the PowerDVD codec on there but updating to the latest one did it! You're a life saver... Well, a sanity saver at least. :)

Oddly enough, I can actually go back to using the MPV and ffdshow codecs now too? I guess PowerDVD installed or fixed something else during the install.

Is there a way of installing just the codec, without installing the whole application?

I found CLVsd.ax. Since I only wanted to install the PowerDVD codecs, not the whole batch provided by SAF, I registered it with regsvr32, following a tip found later in the thread you recommended. This gave me the Cyberlink MPEG decoder in MP config. I then registered CLNavX the same way to get the Cyberlionk DVD navigator. What I am still missing, is a Cyberlink codec for H.264. Any idea which of the ax files I need to register for this?
    Thanks for your help!
