Flicker

Yes...i see a lot of flicker when changing screens or adjusting settings.
The newer drivers have settings to reduce flicker...but i dont see those in the old driver i'm using.

i'm a bit shocked that the driver i have to use is so old compared
to the newer ones out there and they still havn't fixed this issue.
also shocked that this driver issue is not even in their FAQ.

There have been several bugs introduced into Nvidia drivers since the early 8 series, i know they have pissed off a lot of gamers.

My daughters 6600GT runs great with 81.98, while i'm stuck with 93.71+ as nothing prior will recognise my 7900GS.

Progress can be a wonderful thing.

[off topic] To bad that there are no good ATi AGP-cards for HTPC - in general I believe ATi cards generates to much heat (?).

I'm using a x800 GTO AIW Ati card and it's superb, it as a doggie for a s-Video, VGA and a SCART (RGB) cable plus there is a DVI slot. I don't use the onboard tv card though as i have a dual digital tunner card, i got it for the SCART connection and to play games with. I've no problems with heat from the stock fan on the ati but if you are try changeing it to another fan.

    TO OP:

S-video is the wort connect, if you can pick up a vga to scart cable (if you have a scart connection) you can pick one up on that auction site for aroun £3.00

    Cheers

I'm using NVidia GeForce Fx 5200 connected to my Toshiba CRT via an SVideo cable. When watching live TV, or playing back recorded shows, the picture quality just sucks when compared to regular NTSC analog cable television.
Everything is so dark, not as crisp, not at clear.
It makes my eyes want to water.

When watching the show on a CRT monitor though, it's as clear as day.

    Hallo

Are you sure thet this problem is connected to TV-out?
I have the same problem that you describes, so I shut down MP and just doing things in Windows!
The pictures are as good as if I play my DV-recordings to my CRT over composite. Pictures are good with good colors (even in MP pictures looks good).
I then tried to play my TV-recordings directly in Media Player. Sorry, bad picture. My cabelsignal is OK.

I think the problem is the tuner-card! It is not working correctly!!

How is your windows desktop on your TV-screen?
