MediaPortal stops MCE services, unwanted! (1 Viewer)

Hi folks,

just started using MediaPortal on Zalman HD160XT HTPC (with the built in LCD screen).

The main reason for this is that I can't display XP-MCE on my TV and the LCD simultaneously and therefor I need to do some switching before I can use MCE as a jukebox with the TV off.

Anyway; I figured that I'd use MCE for video and TV, and MediaPortal as a jukebox.
This seemed promising until I learned that MP disables MCE services (such as TV recording) so I have to be careful to exit MP if MCE is scheduled to record a TV show.

Okay, I could use MP for everything; but I really like MCE for video and TV.

Can someone tell me how to configure MP so that it DOESN'T stop MCE services?

HI.. I post the same message some weeks ago, I have the same problem.. I want an option to stop or not stop MCE services..

I want to be able to decided what to do..

My only solution is to download the sourcecode, make the change on the code so MP does not stop the MCE services..

You can do the same..

If you don't know how to do it.. I can compile it for you..

rewrite the source code, hmm, sounds a tad more complicated than I had hoped for.

Why don't you instead supply a patch (make it a configuration option) so it can be included for everyone?

Sorry but I dont know enought C# to add an Option On the General Option list.

What I have done is:

Each time I download a SVN build, I coment the line "StopMceServices" that's all I do.

I don't know enought c#... What I can do for you is to post mediaportal.exe for every build I create..

So if i just run the latest stable build (0.2.0.2), what do I need to edit?

Is it a certain registry entry (or several)? Where can I find it?
Are you referring to "Media Center Receiver service" and "Media Center Scheduler service" (ehRecvr.exe/ehSched.exe), if so how?

No, its not a setting, its hard coded. What you would have to do is download the sourcecode, change (comment out) some lines and the compile on your own. If that sounds weird to you, don't do it ;-)

Well, I'm hoping that Iosub will send me a modified build.

In the meantime I'm starting to explore VisualStudio(Express) and such to see if I can do the work my self .....eventually

I'll get back to you as soon as I know where to send/post the file.

In the meantime I've actually downloaded the SVN and I have it open in VisualStudio Express. (Steep learning curve in progress).

I've also located the StopMCEServices line...er...how do you "comment" it to disable it?
