Hi!

I'm building a new HTPC and my first choice was MediaPortal - however, I'm stuck...

When I start MediaPortal, clicks TV and start to watch the first channel MediaPortal hangs... the TV channel still displays (full screen) but the UI is completely hung. (Task Manager reports MediaPortal.exe as Not Responding.)

I've scanned for channels in the TV server configuration util - it worked nicely.
I've created two new groups in addition to the already existing one.
I've NOT cheched the "hide All channels group" in client config util.
I read somewhere that creating a "All channels" group in the Radio section could potentially fix some bug - so I did that - but it didn't help.
When I Preview the TV channels in the TV Server config util they all work nicely.

Is there something that MediaPortal is trying to do the first time a TV channel is watched? That could potentially take a VERY long time and make MediaPortal appear hung during that time?

TV section showing channel 1 (MP not hung now, and as you can see MP displays the EPG info of the TV program):

EPG not showing any information:

TV channel list not displaying any channels:

TV streams showing the correct channel 1 stream but nothing else:

TV teletext works nicely:

TV in fullscreen - MP is now hung (but channel is still displaying correctly - MP does not respond to any input thoug):

Task Manager showing MP hung (with rather high CPU usage):

TV Server config shows all channels found:

Preview shows channel 4 working correctly:
conf_preview_tv4.png

and channel 6 working correctly (all of them works nicely):

showing the USB DBV-T dongle I'm using as input:

Hope anyone can help out!!!

(This last broken image means nothing... not sure how it got there but I can't get rid of it :))

Since the channel selection list and the EPG section are both empty that means there is something else thats wrong?
Is it possible to get a corrupt dB/table? Is it possible to flush/clean/refresh the TV part of the database? since everything looks good in TV Server config I'm guessing it must have something to do with the client side.

(I'm running the TV Server and MP client on the same machine.)

    Hi and welcome marha007!

I think we need some logs from you before we start to guess what the problem might be.
See my signature on how to collect those ;)

    Hi & thanks!

By chance I stumbled unpon something that helped me a bit further. I removed all channels except the six I use most frequently, then 4 (out of 6) channels started working... leads me to think that some of the channels (36) I had in my list was "unsupported" (wrt codecs, scrambling or whatever).

After that I also replaced a splitter on my antenna-cable and got the last two (of the six) channels working. (Still can't get it to work with all channels - but again, I can live without the others.)

    So my status right now:
-MP does not hang anymore (unless if I add the other (36) channels again - I can live without them).
-The list of channels in MP works (displaying all my 6 channels).
-My main 6 channels works and I'm going to stop investigating why the others don't work.
-EPG does still not work for any channels, not sure why but I haven't researched this particular issue enough yet to ask for help.

I'll update this thread with my progress, It might help someone else (or me if I don't manage to get EPG to work - but it looks like there are plently of other threads about that).

    Thanks so far!
Btw: - I am doing this on Windows 8, which I guess isn't really supported yet but it seems to works so far.
