Infos:
These Subversion-snaps are compiled at about 01.00h (CET).
You can also visit the official irc-channel (#mediaportal) to get a notice when its ready for download. The trigger !svn gives you the latest update too.
They are not pre-tested, so please use the backup option from time to time.
If you'd like the bleeding edge code and don't mind the inherent risks, upgrade to the snapshot releases as they become available.
If stability is important to you, you might want to stay with the fully-tested releases.

How to install MediaPortal SVN-Snapshots in short:
1) Install MediaPortal 0.2.3.0 RC1, not necessary if already done
2) install .NET Framework Version 2.0
3) Run the Snapshot-Installer. You should create a backup.
4) Run Configure. Sometimes the settings and database versions change from build to build, so you have to reconfigure your TV for example
5) Hopefully enjoy the new version
6) If not, restore your old files and you will have the former version back.

Important notice: The backup function wont work for Vista atm, here you need to save your configuration manually. A rewrite is planned but will take some more time for testing.

I'm still getting wrong movie hits from IMDB.

Please try "Flushed Away".

IMDB lists:

Popular Titles (Displaying 1 Result)
1. Flushed Away (2006)

Titles (Exact Matches) (Displaying 1 Result)
1. Flushed Away (2006) (VG)

Media Player downloads the second one giving no option to select any other.

In that specific case, the second hit has no "plot outline"

Same thing happens with "Alexander".

Wouldn't be better to list all possible matches and let the user decide which one is the best??

Suggestion: Due to IMDB's changes now and then, wouldn't be better not to update the search engine through snapshots but individually? I might be happy with everything else but IMDB searches. Why should I mess with everything else if only IMDB searches is my concern?

The IMDB is still not working very well, produced some very weird results. There are three areas where it behaves oddly:

1) Cannot find some films at all; e.g. The Godfather gives a few options (from 1920s), but not the most obvious one.

2) The search defaults to some version or other of a film even though it's obviously not the most popular version. e.g. Braveheart, Taxi Driver, Natural Born Killers all produced weird results for me.

3) (Probably least importantly) Often the options for Thumbnails are "interesting", it's difficult to see where some of these options come from.

Media Portal is a great bit of software, the IMDB is the only obvious flaw I have with it.

temp fix for IMDB problem

Add the production year to the search titel, for exampel "Flushed away 2006". X-men 2 is a bit trickier, IMDB recognises it as X2 but in order to be able to get it "on the list" you have to search for X-men united... :) In other words fill in a search which results in a approx. hit and you shouldn´t have a problem....

If I go to mytv then go to search, the main tv image stays the same size rather than shrinking down to the corner.

I have the production year in the filename e.g. Premonition.2007.720p.BluRay.x264 but doesn't work. If I change it to Premonition (2007) it does work.

    Can we improve this anymore?

I also notice when I did a search for Premonition (2007), it returned data for (Premontiion 2007/II) instead of (Premontiion 2007/I)
