I'm having problems installing MediaPortal TV Server. After the original install using 1.2.1 the Service loaded properly, but I had a bsod while searching for channels. After restarting the service would not load. I decided to reinstall, but now I get "service not found" when trying to install (error message in attachments). I've tried uninstalling completely and reinstalling several times without success.

The error seems to be caused by the inability to find or configure the TV card(s). (from the error message)

I'm guessing there is a dll that did not get removed with the uninstall, but I can't find it.

Any ideas?

Thanks,
Bobby

Resolved

Uninstalled, logged in as administrator instead of logging in as normal user and reinstalled.

*** I had another bsod while adding channels which caused the error "Table 'card' is marked as crashed and should be repaired" in tv log file. This caused the same problem that I had earlier with a slight difference. When I would attempt to configure the tv server I got a message saying that the tv service had crashed and "Windows is trying to fix it" or something similar. I didn't receive any other messages, but the TV service never restarted. I found the issue with a little bit of log reading.

Here's a link to the fix:
https://forum.team-mediaportal.com/795586-post10.html

****I'm pasting the text from the above link that fixed the issue

To fix it:

1. Open a command line by clicking start, type "cmd", hit return/enter.
2. Type cd C:\Program Files\MySQL\MySQL Server 5.1\bin (this should be the path to the bin subdirectory within your MySQL install folder) and hit return/enter.
3. Type mysqlcheck mptvdb --auto-repair -e -u root -p, and hit return/enter.
4. A password prompt should appear. The default password is MediaPortal (case sensitive).

    Hi and welcome bobbym! :)

Sorry to see you have had such a torrid time with installation. Just to reiterate - it is important to install as administrator either by logging in as admin or executing the installer with administrative privileges. BSODs are generally caused by driver or hardware issues. The system event log might give you some clues about which driver/hardware to look at, but if it is happening consistently during a scan then it would be a reasonably safe bet that it is the tuner. Try updating your drivers (and if you're already using the latest drivers then try downgrading them ;))...
