A few days ago I noticed my MePo 1.5 Win7-64 single seat server/client system started having video stutter problems playing Recorded TV Videos, longer than normal delays (several seconds) when entering TV Recordings, etc. This seemed to happen after the latest Msft "update of the month" and noticed Win7 Resource Monitor started showing MsMpEng.exe (Antimalware Service Executable) using CPU time when MePo Client was active. This system uses Microsoft Security Essentials. I already excluded my MePo recordings and timeshiftbuffer and the system had worked fine for months.
The video stutter would start when I moved the mouse to the top of the screen to show the "topbar" or the bottom of the screen to see the "timeline OSD". Did some poking around.
Disable MSE realtime scan, problem goes away, re-enable, stutter comes back
Exclude all MePo Client data folders, "C:\ProgramData\Team MediaPortal\MediaPortal", problem goes away,
Exclude just the MePo Client log folder, "C:\ProgramData\Team MediaPortal\MediaPortal\log", problem goes away.
I excluded other MePo Client data subfolders and only the "log" folder seems to make a difference. My folder has about 400 files, with 350 MB of files from Oct 2013 when I installed MePo 1.5. The TV Server Log file does not seem to make a difference, started TV Server Config, did a xmltv import to generate server activity and writes to the TVserver log file.
Not sure what changed, but if you use Microsoft Security Essentials or Defender and are seeing video stutter and other problems try excluding the TV Server recordings and timeshiftbuffer folders AND the MePo Client log subfolder from MSE and see if this helps.
