Doing certain things puts MediaPortal in a state where you can 'Exit' from the file menu, but it really doesn't go away (even though the window closes). While in MyTV, I tried doing 'fullscreen' and basically MP just freezes but the menu is still responsive & I can choose File->Exit. The window will close, but in taskmanager, it's still running. Another scenario is when I just tried to see how recording works and I hit the record-now button and it froze (even though I could still 'exit' using the File->Exit menuitem). Nothing will kill MP (not taskmanager, not pstools' pskill, not kill.exe, not tskill.exe). They all say process X (where X is MP's PID) succesfully killed and the like, but it's still active in taskmanager with the same PID (tells you it didn't respawn itself) (and yes the taskmanager windows is refreshing). I also cannot shutdown when MediaPortal is in this state (have to hold down the power button [ouch] or hit the reset button). So, how can I kill MediaPortal? Note: if I don't enter that state mentioned above (for example if I went to MyTV, changed a couple channels, then went back to the home screen, and exited from there, MP does close gracefully). System is MP 0.2.0.0, Windows XP SP2, eVGA NVTV single-tuner card. Has S-Video, RF Coaxial, and FM Coaxial antenna inputs. I have my cabletv line & FM connected to it. Before you ask... fresh installs, no plugins, nothing special. ---Support Tool Output------------- Area: Media Portal Program MediaPortal Version: 0.2.0.0 (2006-07-03) MediaPortal Skin: MetalMedia Windows Version: Windows XP (SP2) .NET CLR Version: 2.0.50727 DirectX Version: 4.09.00.0904 (9.0c) Audio Codec: MPA Decoder Filter Video Codec: MPV Decoder Filter CPU Type: AMD Athlon 64 3000+ Memory: 511 MB Motherboard: MS-7032 (MSI) TV Card Model: eVGA NVTV TV Card Type: Hardware TV Card Driver: LSI Logic, Inc. 1.2.0.45 9/8/2004 Video Card Model: Nvidia Geforce 256 (microsoft Corporation) (32 MB) Video Card Driver: NVIDIA 5.6.7.3 4/7/2004 Video Card Resolution: 1280x1024 Video Render Type: - Audio Card Model: E-MU E-DSP Audio Processor (WDM) Audio Card Driver: Creative 5.12.2.1102 5/24/2005 -------------------- There is one thread and it starts at: !CreateApplicationContext+ 0xC461 Stack:
ntkrnlpa.exe!KiUnexpectedInterrupt+0xf0 STREAM.SYS!StreamClassCallAtNewPriority+0x23c9 STREAM.SYS+0x955f ks.sys!KsDispatchIrp+0x7a ks.sys!KsPropertyHandler+0x19 STREAM.SYS+0x8996 ks.sys!KsDispatchIrp+0x3d STREAM.SYS+0x1b5d ntkrnlpa.exe!IoBuildPartialMdl+0xed ntkrnlpa.exe!NtWriteFile+0x3929 ntkrnlpa.exe!NtDeviceIoControlFile+0x2a ntkrnlpa.exe!KeReleaseInStackQueuedSpinLockFromDpcLevel+0xb14 ntdll.dll!KiFastSystemCallRet !KsSynchronousDeviceControl+0x65 !KsSynchronousDeviceControl+0x1a0 !DllUnregisterServer+0x1a49 !DllGetClassObject+0x14e5b
