I have access to mediaportal.exe in three different places: on the desktop, in the start menu, and in Program Files -> MediaPortal. No matter where I go, when I try to open the program, it takes me to the stupid configuration menu! I've been through the configuration options and I have them how I want them. Now I just want to start the stinking program! How can I do that if the mediaportal.exe file doesn't do it for me?

Thank you.

    It's a fair question. I'm sure I sound like a raving idiot. I promise I'm not! I'm just really frustrated, that's all.

Anyway, to answer your question, when I went to install MP, it placed four icons on my desktop. They are:

    MediaPortal Configuration
    MediaPortal Extension Installer
    MediaPortal
    TV-Server Configuration

When I double-click on the one simply called MediaPortal, it takes me to the configuration app. Win7 pops up the "are you sure" dialog, and inside that, it says it's trying to open a file called "configuration.exe".

So, thinking I had a bad shortcut or something, I navigated to "C:\Program Files\Team MediaPortal\MediaPortal", scrolled down to the MediaPortal.exe file, and double-clicked it. Same thing - it takes me to the configuration app.

That's all I can figure out to try right now. Sorry if I was unclear - I was ready to rip my hair out last night when I first posted. I'm better now. :)

Thank you all for any insight you can provide here.

When you run MediaPortal the first time it will always start the configuration window first. After you save your settings, and you start it again it should start MediaPortal. If it does not work the way I described then there must be something wrong.... Try a few combination and see if MP does not correct itself:

    1) Try opening the TV-Server configuration...and save.
    2) Change a few options in the MP configurations...then save.
    3) Look at the MP logs and see if you don't see some sort of error....
