OK, @CyberSimian jogged my memory :) I remembered that something similar has happened to me before, back in 2017. So I searched back through previous posts and found the solution. I just knocked up a very rough document that describes the problem, symptoms & solution for anyone else that is interested in the future. It's attached to this reply. Hopefully it's useful. Oh yes, I had an electrician investigating a fault at the house today. I knew they had switched off the power, but what I didn't realise was that the PC that had this MediaPortal problem was powered up at the time as it's normally powered off during the day. It must have fired up to record something from TV. Coincidently, when I started it up, a bunch of Windows updates were installed, so, naturally I attributed the problem to those updates. So quick to stomp on poor Microsoft I am :) Thanks to @joecrow and @CyberSimian for your prompt help with my problem today and acknowledgement also to @JimCatMP, @mm1352000 and @Stéphane Lenclud for their assistance back in 2017 :) Cheers, Steve.
