You can try something
But not sure that it will work on your installed 1.7.1 (in 1.8.0 Pre release there is more fix too).
In the shortcut to start MP add this : /avoidversioncheck
Like :

"C:\Program Files (x86)\Team MediaPortal\MediaPortal\MediaPortal.exe" /avoidversioncheck

It will notify MP to not check the tvplugin version, it just for purpose/testing only, it will permit to use tvplugin but maybe it will not work, i can't really tell.

Got it all working with ArgusTV used the prerelease files and overwrote the Argus TV V2.2.2 files that did not support MP 1.7.1

Now the other issue I have with 1.7.1 - I have uploaded the logs for the MyMusic system not working at all issue.
