I would go so far as to say, that if a plugin crashes the system, because of wrong/missing labels/list etc. in the skin, well...then the plugin is written badly without any error-handling. There should always be (as a minimum) some kind of try() catch() logic in the plugin. I would try to disable the plugins one by one until I find the one that crashes. MediaPortal can't crash because of a skin.
