To much like giving in!! Just ditch the GF and get a geeky one ;)
Many a long happy hour passed discussing the merits of windows & unix!!!

I think the TV bit in MP is the weakest bit - most of the issues raised seem to be based around this.
I don't use any of the TV stuff - so MP is fantastic!! Meedios seemed WAY too complicated...

As a past Meedio user, I miss these features a lot in MP (which are Meedio's main advantages comparted to MP):
    - Better tag reader: Reads many more tags into the database.
    - Much better and more flexible database handling.
    - More advanced database view generation and filtering.
    - More flexible menu structuring options.

All those are on todo list for MPII...

Meedios has to be the most un-user friendly app I have ever used, it looks great but its a nightmare trying to set it up. I think I will stick to MediaPortal with the TVSeries plug-in and the SpinSafe theme.

I started playing with MyHTPC before it was even Meedio, I really loved the flexibility of the menus and the configuration of the data bases but the whole Yahoo fiasco left a bad taste in my mouth and around that time I started looking into Mediaportal.

I love Mediaportal, it has even inspired me to start learning some programming skills. I have to say that both programs at points have had me pulling my hair out, but the absolute most difficult part of either was getting my Skystar 2 to work properly through TV Engine 3. Just a hint for anyone else whose stuck...

    Scan your channels in DVBDream,
Convert to Mediaportal (search for the program on DVBN)
    Export the XML from Mediaportal,
Open the XML in a program that has a search and replace function,
Convert all horizontal polarity freq. to vertical. and the flag from horizontal to vertical

Took me forever to piece all that together and get it working.

Now i know why, seriously, all these various app's have there good points and there bad one's.

I would say the biggest bugbear is finding the ultimate analogue\dvb\atsc derisions, atm I do not consider anyone the leader, each has it advantages\drawbacks, what you do need to look at is the commitment of the developers, this far exceeds anything you may expect, so I do consider us no.1 on the activity scale :)
