Meida Portal TV server does not read TV card on ACER Z5700 (1 Viewer)

I installed MediaPortal v1.1.2 on my brand new ACER aspire Z5700 U3112. When looking for TV channels on the TV surver configuration it gives a message: "Please install a supported audio/video encoder for your software analog card". Media portal lists as a TV card the following: "AVerMedia A336 minicard dummy IR receiver". What shall I do do solve the problem? I installed DivX, but this did not help.

Hi there

Try installing WinDVR 3 from here. This will supply you with the encoder software that your tuner needs in order to work.

Thanks for the advice, but the installation of WinDVR did not help. I uninstalled and re-installed MediaPortal, but no success. What else could I try?

Please post your TV Server logs. In Windows 7 you can find these in C:\ProgramData\Team MediaPortal\MediaPortal TV Server\log.

I still have to check the type of the video card in the ACER Z5700.

However, the good news is that Mediaportal is working now. Here is what I did: (i) uninstalled it using uninstall "complete" option; (ii) installed WinDVR 3; (iii) installed again Mediaportal.

I will uninstall now WinDVR 3 and see whether Mediaportal is going to function without it.

A question. How can I record a movie without the ads? I did not see any option in "recording" that allows you to do so.

Hi again emilstavrev

I only said you could uninstall WinDVR 3 after you said it didn't work. Perhaps you didn't restart your computer after installing? Anyhow, now that it is working I strongly recommend that you don't uninstall WinDVR 3. There is 90% chance it will not work after you do that.

Regarding the recording question: as far as I know this is not possible. I have to edit my recordings manually to remove ads...

It's not possible to record tv with no ads - but it is possible to have no adverts while playing back the recordings. The wiki gives details for setting it up using comskip Skipping Ads - MediaPortal Wiki
