Hi all,

I have some problems with the way MP handle the removable media ...
Normally I have a USB card reader always plugged in my system.

* If I insert a normal USB stick the stick is well seen in "My Videos", "My Pictures", etc etc etc (don remember wich letter is assigned ....)

* If I insert a Compact Flash everything works well as above ( recognized as drive G: )

* If I insert a SD card ( recogized as drive J: ) I see nothing in MP ... even if the card is recognized at windows level ...

So I would like to understand well how the handling of removable media is managed in MP ...

Thaks in advance

Hi Jack,

i had the same problem but it is easy to solve....Plug in the SD card and go in the MP setup. There you can add the new folder/path in Movie and pictures to this card.

I have more Cameras and SD video Cameras and i did this for all of them. Also you can easy set up your Phone Memory-card in this way if you take fotos with your mobile.

Cheers
Tommy

Hi Tikarus,

thanks for your response ... anyway I would like to understand what's the difference between CompactFlash & usb sticks, that works fine, and SD cards ... that are not recogized by MediaPortal.

Thoose are all logical disk formatted with FAT filesystem, isn't it ???

Some kind of bug ????????

Thanks again

Sorry but i do not have a answer. With my card reader i do not have any problem to read any kind of memory card. I use CF,USB-sticks, CFII, Sony MS and SD cards. All of them are working.
Do you have access to your SD card using the explorer? I have one Digital-camera with some similar problems , this is because of a bit strange format the camera is using.

Greetings
Tommy

Hi,

my problem is not that I cannot read the image at all.

My problem is that when I insert a CF flash card I see automatically it in the folder for movie, image and music.

For automatically I mean that I do not have to map the drive for MP to look inside for multimedia files (same for USB memory stick).

The proble is that for me it works only for CF card ... for SD and MMC I have to manually map the drive ...

... and I do not know why ...
