Menus locking up, no TV playback (1 Viewer)

I have just setup my first MediaPortal server and client. No doubt have missed something here.

On the server I have a dual tuner TV Card which following the documentation I have setup the TV Server only and had it scan the channels and configured the EPG settings.

On my first client I have installed MediaPortal client only and tested connection to TV Server OK.

When I first attempted to use the client I found clicking on the TV options just locked up or made Media Portal stop responding for around a minute or two. On further testing though I found that it is anywhere within the interface whether the TV section or attempting to just browse through the Settings - it will continually lock up every minute or two for a minute or two. During this time I can alt tab out and there is no apparent issues affecting the entire system; CPU, RAM and disk queue all look fine/nothing that should be causing these lock ups.

Even between the lock ups though I cannot get the TV playback working on the client.

Testing the TV on the server through the configuration tool works OK.

What am I missing here? Thanks

Probably worth noting the user I had original attempted this with was not a local administrator - so doing some quick research because when I was editing the configuration it runs as administrator account (or whatever local admin account) it saves the config under that user... Anyway just in case I tested also by running MediaPortal as the same local admin account and same result (the same account I ran this with during logging - local admin the entire process)[DOUBLEPOST=1433849101][/DOUBLEPOST]Jeez had a squiz through those logs... SQL port not open... It's like being at work... Just as a quick test disabled firewall completely and the TV appears working OK. Doesn't appear to be any lockups (appears from those logs to have just been SQL timeouts).

    I think the log files are showing that the reason for the lockups is that MediaPortal is failing to connect to your TV Server's database.
    Configuration is pointing towards an SQL Server database that should be available from a server called "COOTDOG-PC".

    Can you please confirm that the client has access to that server and database (ie. the client is able to resolve that server name/address, and any security software you have running is configured to allow the connection etc.).
