After Installaling 1.2.0 / 1.2.1 (Upgrade) I have a problem with the TVPlugin. If enabled Media Portal crashes while starting. Tv Server is running and ok. Mediaportal without TVPlugin is also running without problems.
Maybe I didn't stop the TV Server during Installation. I don't know what to do. New Installation is the last thing I want to do!

System is Vista, Media Portal runs for 4 years without problems!
Is anyone familiar with the problem? Thank you in advance

Hi,

resintallation without deleting the config shouldnt be a big issue.
i ve done this multiple times and is usualy done is a few minutes.
you also leave the DB of the TV Server in place.
so basicaly just SW deinstall -> SW install + Plugin install
and the configuration should stay the same.

and when you are already not sure if the installation went fine this is the first thing to do.

can you tune on the TV server without problems?

Yes, TV Server is running without any problems. I can manually tune a channel and it works fine.

When I do a reinstallation are there any directories I have to save before?

Are there anybody here who has a clue what the problem could be? I tried to read the source code but I can't!?

Hi,

had a quick look into the source of 1.2.1.
the method get_user doesnt exist its just user as far as i can see. additionaly get_user is not called in the current tvplugin heartbeat transmitter thread.

so i assume that you might have a problem with your update.
could it be that the update of your TV Plugin didnt work properly?

so maybe you just try in the firstplace to reinstall the TVplugin.
in C:\Users\<username>\AppData\Local\Temp\MediaPortal Installation\deploy (for win 7 .. vista should be the same)
you should find package-tvengine.exe
when you start this you should be able to select the tvplugin for installation

btw. have you checked if you have some old plugins that are not compatible anymore with 1.2.1?

Hi Snow,

thats it! MP is runnig again.

As you suggested I executed the package-tvengine.exe to reinstall TvPlugin. The program run to an error because it was not able to change TvControl.dll and TvLibrary.Interfaces.dll. I renamed the both DLLs, try again and then installation was completed! After that every thing worked fine.
