Hi,

I seem to be suffering from Micro glitches when watching live TV, it's very annoying and I just can't see what could be causeing it.
So far I've reinstalled several times, the SVN's are up to date, I've got the time shift folder running to it's own partition (Seperate drive would have been better)
but I am running a raid 0, so I/O throughput should not be an issue.

I've currently using both ffdshow decoder and Cyberlink, the ffdshow, seems to have the edge for some reason, I'm really stumped, any help would be appreciated.

Mike

If you're on English XP, look up the fix for quartz.dll involving video accelearation and stuttering. There is a sticky about that somewhere around here. There is a patched MS version. Otherwise, you can downgrade to directx 9.0b. There are instructions for that floating around the web also. The bottom line is something is screwed up in the MS components, and it seems to randomly affect some machines and not others. FFDshow is performing better because it does not use hardware acceleration and Cyberlink does.

    Hi,

I've tried all the fixes I can find, but still get these little pauses.
The thing is I'm not sure it's actualy Media Portal at all, the reason I say that is because when I watch the channel preview from the server I notice that it's doing it there as well, this suggests that it's not the stream from the server to the client, or the client decoder settings.

I have the newest driver though and the dish is set correctly getting a really good signal, so whats actually left for me to do???

Sounds like a signal issue. Few things you could try:

#1 Check the TsWriter.log, does it log anything when the pauses in video happen?

#2 Try different DVB application (DVBViewer for example). Does it also show the same behaviour?

Thanks for the advise, can you tell me where the log file is as I cannot see it, or do you have to enable logging to view this file?
