I finally got up the courage to migrate from 2.3.0 RC2 w/SVN to RC3.
To reduce some of the trash in my system, I started over with a clean installation of Win XP MCE.

I was hoping to migrate some of my old configurations, specifically:
    1. TV Channels
    2. FM Radio Stations
    3. Cities and URLs from the Weather plug-in
but haven't succeeded in any of these.
I thought I could at least get the TV Channels by restoring a backup ChannelList.xml file, but TV won't start.
When I try to start it manually by clicking "TV On", the dot goes red for a half a second and then goes back to blue.
The screen remains black. Will I have to rescan and reconfigure all of my channels, or is there a simpler way?

For the other two, I didn't even find any *intended* way of migrating the settings.

For FM Radio, it isn't clear to me where the station list is stored.

For the Weather, it appears to be in Weather\curWeather.xml, but copying a backed up copy of this file to the new MP installation didn't help. My list of cities is still empty in both MP configuration and in the MP UI.

Is there some way to avoid redoing all of these things by hand?

I am attaching log files, in case they're of interest.

    Hi level20peon,
    Thanks for the tip(s).
After copying all of the files/directories mentioned in your referenced post from my RC2 backup into my current RC3 installation, I have most of the FM radio stations (one of them just gives out a very loud, high-pitched signal), but I still have no data in the Weather plug-in and I still cannot start TV.
Furthermore, I am concerned about incompatibilities between the RC2 files and the RC3 files. Before replacing the RC3 files, I noticed that some of them had additional entries not present in the RC2 versions.
I would lik to be a bit more selective about this, to avoid side effects.
Where do you think the FM radio stations are stored?
It looks like I will have to reconstruct the weather data by hand.
As for the TV stations, it is a complete mystery to me why they aren't working.

Maybe Radio stations are stored in Database/RadioDatabase4.db3 under your Mediaportal installation path, just try to replace it with the one from RC2...I don't know if they changed DB format for radio but it may worth a try

Regarding TV channels do you assign them to TV cards after restoring from backup? maybe you have erstored channel list but not assigned them to any TV card, this informations are not stored in the backup, it only restores channel list, channel groups, recorded TV shows and schedule

    hope this helps

The weather data is stored in the "MediaPortal.xml" file. I don't know what went wrong with your radio stations, they should be stored in the db3 files.

Furthermore, I am concerned about incompatibilities between the RC2 files and the RC3 files. Before replacing the RC3 files, I noticed that some of them had additional entries not present in the RC2 versions.

The additional entries are created once you start the setup for RC3 (I ported my configuration from Pre RC1 to RC1 to RC2 to RC3 without problems).

As I said, they should be stored in the respective db3 files ("RadioDatabase4.db3" / "TVDatabaseV21.db3"). You can have a look into these files with the SQLite Database Browser.

If AndreaVB is right you could use the SQLite Database Browser to export an sql file from the old version and import it into the new version. Maybe you would have to alter some tables though, so you should know what you are doing. If you have no knowledge about SQL you should not try to do this. I am using the TV-Server so I cannot tell you more about the current format they are using in the db3 files for TV and Radio. However I am using the "VideoDatabaseV5.db3" since pre RC1 versions and ported it without problems.

    Hi *,
:D for all of your tips! I have now conducted a clean installation of 2.3.0 stable release and initialized it with the files level20peon recommends in his post from my old RC2 installation. This resulted in seeing all of my previously configured radio & TV stations as well as weather locations in MP Configuration.
The weather now works as expected. :D TV doesn't work at all. :( When I try it it says "recorder busy". If I try to activate it within the TV plugin menu, the dot goes red for a fraction of a second, before turning blue again.
The radio stations sometimes work and sometimes don't. Sometimes I get the expected sound, sometimes I get the loud, high-pitched tone mentioned earlier.
Attached are my logfiles. Some errors are shown due to a non-existed path for Card 1 recording, but card 1 (the digital part of my hybrid TV card) is disabled anyway.
Anyway, I will correct this and update the TV card drivers before opening a support thread for this.

    P.S.
Rescanning the TV & radio stations brought no improvement. Updating the Hauppauge HVR-1300MCE drivers seems to have eliminated the high-pitched tone on some radio stations. However, I don't get any webradio, which was working under 2.3.0 RC2. Also, even though the scan process displayed video for each TV station found, I still have no TV. The symptoms remain as described above: the dot goes red for a fraction of a second and then turns blue again; no video is displayed. No new logs here, I will post them in a support thread.
