    Good evening,

    HELP!

I have an old installation because I have a family member who relies on the MiniDisplay plug in. It is important we retain this functionality.

Has anyone tried this plug-in with the current MP release?

It's a simple plug in I think which pushes MP variables and properties to the third party drivers (Soundgraph) via LPT1 and these are displayed on the LCD on the HTPC case.

If anyone is able to confirm functionality for me, then I will be able to upgrade. I daren't fiddle with our installation here in case I do something undoable.

    Many thanks
    RH

I would strongly urge you to get into the habit of creating drive images of your "C:" drive (the one that contains MP). That way, if you make a change that is catastrophic and not easily reversed, you can simply restore your most-recent drive image.

There are several free or low-cost tools for creating drive images, and you will need an external USB disk that is big enough to contain several drive images. The "C:" drive contains much data that is binary, and which does not compress, so an estimate of the size of a drive image would be the current space used on the "C:" drive. Some imaging tools omit the Windows page file, swap file, and hibernation file, and this significantly reduces the size of the drive image.

    Hi,
I'm using it also in my installation and it works. I think I'm on MP1.33, not the most recent one, but I think it should work.

Thank you Netexplorer. That is very helpful and encouraging indeed.

Can I ask which HTPC case you are using and which Soundgraph driver?

This is very good advice. I was not aware such things existed. I currently rely on BackUp Settings for MP, or for more limited changes I just make copies of my skin folder, but of course that doesn't back up things such as drivers, video filters/codecs and so forth.

If there are any recommendations for software to perform this function, they will be gratefully received.

I have used the same drive-imaging program for the last 25 years, but it is part of the boot manager tool that I use ("BootIt Bare Metal", from Terabyte Unlimited). It is very reliable, but it is not the easiest to use. In recent years Terabyte have produced a dedicated imaging program, that has both Windows and Linux versions. However, I have not used it myself, and cannot comment on its reliability or ease of use.

Searching for drive imaging software found this recent group review from a reputable web site. There are both free and paid-for tools reviewed. Perhaps others have used some of these programs and can offer comments?

I have an Antec Fusion Remote case with LCD display.
Sorry I don't know the driver version, I have to check. But I installed the latest one for Windows 8.1.
