Hello rsbrux!
Here are the steps to compress, i just atacched a pic. (just to be sure we are in the same steps ;) )
In Step 3 you may need to pick setings to be sure that the compress method is in MPEG.
In step 4 after you choice the file or the files you want to compress, just click OK.

Any qwestion just ask! if i know the answer ill post back!
Cheers!

That depends on the other PCs.
The most compatible but most complex way would be to reauther the recording to a compilant DVD and burn it.

1.) Convert the recorded dvr-ms or transport stream to ES (elementary streams).
2.) Mux the ES to program stream (VOBs) files
    3.) Create IFO files.
    4.) Burn on a DVD.

This is what I was hoping to do, but what you describe above sounds like it is beyond my modest capabilities.
I was hoping for an easy way to convert .dvr-ms to .ts, since My Burner can presumably handle the latter.
MCEbuddy supports conversions to formats like WMV and h264; I'm not sure how much good these will do me on a DVD.

In step 4 on my system there is nothing to select.
How can I get my recording to appear there?
It is located in D:/Videos/Recordings, which is also set as the directory MP should record to.
I can find it (and play it back) in MP by going to the "Shares" view in "My Videos".
