Not sure if this is the right place for this, but during the installation the installer asked me to download "wmp11-windowsxp-x86.exe" and put it into a temporary directory... The problem was that the filename was actually "wmp11-windowsxp-x86-enu.exe", so I had to rename it.

Not a big problem for me but for some users this could cause some serious headaches ;)

    :D

    Hi,
As always your system specification should be filled out(System: Win XP spx, Vista X 86/64 etc) so we can reproduce your issue & fix it ;)

What DieBagger is saying, the link that downloads WMP gets the file wmp11-windowsxp-x86-enu.exe, whereas MediaPortal is looking for the file without the enu part. This has nothing to do with the system of the user, just the check MP does (by filename).

    Hi,
It has to do with the system. M$ redirect you to the download page depending on which system you run....

I'm sorry, I should have included this:

I was running RC3 setup on a windows xp pro sp3 x86. I was also under the impression that this was an obvious flaw that could easily be reproduced...

    hi DieBagger,

our installer is written in .NET so it will use only IE.
I just tested it once again and cannot reproduce.
Can you try to make the download using IE please ?

    Me too...

I had the same issue when I installed last night. From memory MP asked me to download wmp11-windowsxp-x86-en-NZ.exe (I'm in New Zealand) but when I followed the Link provided by MP to Microsoft Download Center it offered me wmp11-windowsxp-x86-enu.exe. (The download was done using Firefox).

MP wouldn't continue with the install unless I renamed the file to end in NZ as it expected. After this it was fine.

See my system spec. Let me know if you need further info.

    Thanks.

    N.
