MKV File with DTS-MA Audio video is extremely jerky (1 Viewer)

Today I set up a new video card in my HTPC - Radeon 5450 so I could bitstream HD audio to my receiver. Everything is working great outside of MP but I have 1 remaining problem in MP. I'm trying to play a MKV file with DTS-MA audio and it lights up my receiver HD light blue so the audio is coming through properly, and the audio sounds fantastic, but the video is extremely jerky (1 frame every 3 seconds or so). If I rip the same MKV file with regular DTS audio everything is perfectly fine.

I have a couple files with DD TrueHD audio (but not an MKV file, just m2ts files) that play perfectly fine with the HD audio inside MP. Also, the same MKV file with DTS-MA audio plays perfectly fine in MPC-HC (using ffdshow as the audio decoder) with no slowdown.

I have the latest version of Haali Media Splitter installed (need subs!), the latest version of ffdshow tryouts, ffdshow set to bitstream everything, the latest version of MPC Standalone filters using MPCVideoDec.ax to decode H.264 and ffdshow for everything else in Mediaportal config.

Any ideas what could cause this? It's clearly a config issue with MP or a codec issue with MP (or splitter I guess?). Is it Haali? I heard the new versions of Haali can do HD audio inside MKVs with no problem. I am willing to switch Haali but I have to have subs available while I watch an MKV file with HD audio (in this case it's avatar, need the N'avi subs). Any advice?

For anyone that is interested I fixed this... First, I found a post on this forum (though I don't know where it is now) with a patched mpcSubs.dll file that will allow MP to play internal subtitles with the MPC matroska splitter. I then uninstalled Haali and registered the MPC standalone MatroskaSplitter.ax - at this point suddenly ALL of my MKV files were jerky (but not super jerky just slightly jerky). I then went to ??????? ???????? - XvidVideo.RU and downloaded the latest SVN of the MPC Standalone filters and registered these instead (MatroskaSplitter.ax, MpegSplitter.ax, and MPCVideoDec.ax, and now everything works great for all of my HD and non HD audio MKV and m2ts files.

First, I found a post on this forum (though I don't know where it is now) with a patched mpcSubs.dll file that will allow MP to play internal subtitles with the MPC matroska splitter.

I'm having the same problem with jerky mkv video with DTS-HD MA audio. Could you please post the mpcSubs.dll by any chance?

This is a known Haali problem.
Remove Haali and all codecs, then install just SAF 5, found here: click

Or just tune Your favorite codec pack to use Gabest splitter instead of Haali splitter. For example in klcodec pack we should "Manage preferred DirectShow source filters".

Hi, I just built an HTPC a few days ago, started playing with it tonight.

I had the same issue as the topic starter, and after a few different settings, I got my DTS-MA to work, without video stuttering.

Here's what I am running-

i3 540
Gigabyte H55N-USB3

I am using the HDMI out of course...

I started with a fresh copy of Windows 7 64bit (all updates applied)

Drivers-

Realtek Azalia driver ver. r2.49-6121
Intel Management Engine Interface ver. 6.0.0.1179
Intel VGA Driver 8.15.10.2104

Software-

Windows Media Center
Shark007 codec pack (Win7codecs_v275.exe) - installed this first, then I installed (x64components_v279.exe)

After install, I ran "64bit Settings Application"

As soon as it opened, I checked off on the first page "Shark007 SUGGESTED settings" --- As in, I turned on his recommended settings.
This alone, got DTS-MA to output, but then the jitterness....

I then tried approximately 15 different combinations, no rebooting, just checking off and re-launching Windows Media Center to test...

THIS IS MY WORKING CONFIGURATION-

Config tab- go to ffdshow audio decoder configuration.. Go to section OSD / Output and make sure all options are checked off under the "Pass Through (S/PDIF, HDMI) section (5 total check boxes), hit OK

Audio tab- "2.0 speaker" is checked, "turn off pass-through (default)" is checked and "disable audio normilization (default) is checked.

AVI tab- "Use Microsoft's Splitter (default)" is checked

H264 tab- "FFDshow with multithreading (default)" is checked, under h246 codec in DirectShow Players, "use Microsoft codec" is checked.

MKV tab- "use Gabest's splitter" is checked and "disable the DivX media foundation splitter".

I didn't close the config after, seems to take effect in realtime.

I was using "The Matrix" as my sample, when I first played, audio was smooth, as soon as pictures came up, it was stuttering like crazy.

Now it plays smooth as silk, DTS MA is showing up on my Yamaha receiver.

I don't know if this has been discussed many times before, I just thought I'd chime in, since I only learn from other people's posts, and from what I've read, codecs seem to be a hit and miss function.
