Recently I have some problems with 720p mkv-files. I don't think it is a codec or skinproblem. The same codecs are working fine in Windows Mediaplayer and I tried another skin also.

Is there anything wrong with this log? I am not sure where to search for the problem

    Hi Den70

What exactly do you see - is the screen just black?
What type of display are you using - TV or PC monitor?

    mm

[Edit: should have read the title of the thread more carefully! If you're seeing stutter then try enabling dynamic refresh rate (link). You're playing a 23.976 fps video so you need to make sure that your display refresh rate is matched.

Note: according to the logs you're running MP 1.2.2 - update gone wrong?]

Thank you for the quick response. (y)

I tried something else yesterday: the new LAFV codecs which now support DXVA for ATI-cards. A year ago LAFV was not a succes for my setup (no DXVA, some videos did not play) but for now the stutter is gone when I use it.

I'll look into the dynamic refresh rate to see if that solves the problem for the Microsoft codecs.

    Note:
I was wrong: I am still on 1.2.2. I thought I had the latest version but I missed an update apparently.

Well, I have the exact same problem, and the problem is the file itself, or something like that. Because it Will only and always happen with immerse tv rell. Together with hardware acceleration. I dont know what they do with the file, it seems to work fine with some system/ hardware...maybe the grafics :/ google "immerse stutter" there are à few threads about it.

But to solve my problem I use mkvmerge and remux the file to force it to use 23.976hz.
Maybe they use some wierd rip standard that some grafics cant handle.

Same thing here. Immerse releases stutter and so far seem the only ones that do. I read somewhere that this is because the audio sampling rate is incorrectly specified as '0'. Check out this post for a fix: http://tehparadox.com/forum/f85/problem-new-immerse-rips-2460081/#post5817933
Haven't tried this fix myself btw.

PS they seem to play fine in Windows MediaPlayer, so I guess a fix on the MediaPortal side is also a possibility. Maybe someone knows how to fix this from the other side?

Immerse = always needs a proper! I think there is rarely an Immerse release that was propered within a few hours :D

But in this scenario is the the MS-DTV codec. It has a lot of issues with scene releases. So for the video player don't use it. It should be fine for TV though.

I personally use the same setup for ages:
    - Haali Splitter for MKV and AVI
    - All audio over ffdshow with passthrough + madFlac
    - MPC VideoDec for x264
    - VC1 - don't know what handles it - but it's not MPC as it causes soem problems for me. Could be MS here. Need to check the DS graph.
    - MPEG2 and DVD Navigator handled by MS
    - Xvid and stuff handled by ffdshow

LAV doesn't run well on my onboard GPU. So I stick with what works for me since I started to use MP. Maybe will switch to LAV some time in the future. But for me it needs to mature more.

I use that Shark007 codec pack because I am too lazy to upgrade codecs manually and it comes with a decent config app. Only madFlac was added in addition.

Also make sure that your Virus Scanner doesn't audit the MediaPortal process. It might put a bottle neck on your system because data might not come with the same speed all the time and you might see some stutter. At least it caused some issues for me (too high CPU load for example).
