Hi, don't know where to put this, but since the pronlem occurs inside Moving Pictures...
Some og my MKV's movies wont play. They play using Media Player but inside MP and MovPic they only show a black picture. Other of my mkv movies play fine! Strange?

More then likely a codec problem then. Do you have Graph Edit? Otherwise get Open Source version called Graph Studio @ RadScorpion’s blog MONOGRAM GraphStudio it will allow you to verify what DirectShow codecs are used for playing and configure MediaPortal as such.

Another post might be of help (though I am sure this is all on wiki/manual of MediaPortal as well) @ https://forum.team-mediaportal.com/my-tvseries-162/mkv-multiple-audio-tracks-77486/#post575530

Using the recomended program it shows that both movies are using the same codecs (coreavc). But one plays on MP and the other doesn't. Both play well using Media Player.

Is MediaPortal configured to use CoreAVC? And if you have DXVA hardware, then CoreAVC is actually a bad choice.

MP is configured to use CoreAvc without DXVA hardware

    Ok it's solved!
I had to disable CoreAvc as the prefered decoder. I'm using Ati codec and it's seems ok. I never realised that ATI could deliver a good response and image quality...

your best bet for codecs if you have trouble again is to try installing saf codec pack for mediaportal (link is in my signiture)

I have had this problem since RC2 and saf5 and power dvd codes with moving pictures plugin.
Moving pictures appears to be the problem
    Tried the following-

    1) Disabling moving pictures resolves the issue and i access movies via the Video route in MP
    2) Other codecs tried power dvd 8 and 10 same issue is seen with moving pictures plugin enabled.
    3) Launching debug with moving pictures enabled and i am able to play all movies.

Im guessing that debug clears some sort of cache that enables MP to now play the movies but this is only a temp solution as it will cause the same issues when launched again without debug

Any suggestions would be greatfully recieved.
Files are mostly 720/1080p's in an mkv container with a 4l or 5l profile
    Ps I am a noob.
