Introducing MkvBatcher
http://www.mkvbatcher.com/

MkvBatcher Free
is a fully automatic Blu-ray/DVD ripper and video batch converter.
You just insert discs into your drives and/or drag+drop hundreds of videos to the batch list and press start.

MkvBatcher Pro

Depending on the number of computers you have, MkvBatcher Pro supports up to 16 conversion engines on up to 16 computers. All engines work syncronised in a master/slave concept over your local area network.

Input: BD (disc), DVD (disc, iso, video_ts), Mov, Wmv, Mkv, M4v, Mp4, Mpg, Ts, Avi, Vob, M2ts, Flv
Output: Mkv, Mp4, M4v

Kind regards

2 questions come to mind as I read thru the web site info

1 - Can it monitor a single folder and when a movie / video appears within that folder just auto convert it?
2 - Is there an API allowing an application like MediaPortal to call it up when a new movie / video has been discovered or completed with its recording?

    thanks

Unfortunately the answer to both questions is no.
But it does sound like an interesting idea for a next project ...

    Thanks for the quick response.
Have you given any thought to extending the Trial period license to 30 days?
It would be a lot easier and less trouble for those wanting to try this while it is still in Beta.

The trial period is 30 days.
After that the "free while in beta" thing aplies.

    Hi Siegfried,

one question; Is it possible to use this program to convert iso files and video_ts files to mkv?

    Cheers,
    Marcel

    Hi again, Marcel,
it took a while until I noticed, but your question pointed me to something I wasn´t aware of: I mention nowhere on my website what the supported input formats are and the screenshots show MPGs on the batch list.

    Thanks for the hint!!(y)
    I will add that info.

In the meantime, here are the facts in detail:
The conversion engine under the hood is HandbrakeCLI. This is what handbrake accepts as source

MkvBatcher accepts the following input formats:

DVD: Disc, Iso or Video_Ts (folder)
    BD: Disc
Video files: mov, wmv, mkv,m4v,mp4,mpg,ts,avi,vob,m2ts,flv, (+Dvd as iso)

That is all I ever needed (and tested). But if there is an important format missing, that handbrake does support, I can easily add it on request.

    Regards
    Siegfried

How to rip Blu-rays or DVDs to MKV using MkvBatcher:
    http://www.mkvbatcher.com/MkvBatcher_Rip_BD_or_DVD_to_Mkv.htm

    1. Inserting Blu-ray discs or DVDs starts the automatic scan for processing data.
    2. After a few moments all inserted discs appear on the master´s batch list ready for conversion.
    3. Press start. That´s all.

A tutorial with pictures is here.

    regards,
    Siegfried
