[MOD] Online Lookup (1 Viewer)

Hi,

Here is a skin mod that kinda acts like a plugin to allow context based online lookup.

What this means is that selecting a music artist, a movie, tv show and more will allow you to get relevant online information on that item.

This uses the BrowseTheWeb plugin for web searches and OnlineVideos for YouTube searches.

History:
Originally made as a mod for StreamedMP, converted to work with Avalon and Avallonis and now for Titan.

Installation:
The "DialogMenu.xml" needs to be copied from the OnlineLookup zip to your skin folder. I recommend backing up or renaming the original file (original is also included in the zip).

Titan skin folder is located at (windows 7) C:\ProgramData\Team MediaPortal\MediaPortal\skin\Titan

You will also need to install the BrowseTheWeb plugin. Get it here: https://www.team-mediaportal.com/extensions/news-info/browse-the-web-webbrowser

How To Use:
Select an item and press the info button. This will open the regular context menu. If online lookup is available you will see "Online >>", press RIGHT on controller to access this menu.

Tips:
I recommend using a custom HOSTS file. This will act like adblock and also block some nasty sites. More info and HOSTS file here: Blocking Unwanted Parasites with a Hosts File

Allright, thanks! But one problem with that; for all non Dutch users of BTW, they need the default english version to be instaled.. So what to do with that?

Hm, so it's not language aware. Then I have to dig in the installer to get a screen with a selection on it. That might take a while...

Hi guys, here is a cusomized (Dutch) file:

-Changed all "google.com's" into "google.nl" (all 100.000)
-The button size is now the same as the normal button size, so a bit higher
-Only 5 options are now availible for each menu.
-Added suport for Moviemeter.nl (movingpictures)
-Added suport for theTVDB.com (in TVseries and TV guide, live tv, etc.)
-Online Lookup is now also availible for music shares view. (files) This is window 501
-Added "Trailer" string to Movingpictures movietitle to get better search results
-Added Youtube gameplay videos for MyEmulators 2

Sites that are included now:

• Google
• Wiki
• Youtube
• IMDB
• Moviemeter
• AMG (All Music Guide)
• LastFM
• GameFAQs
• Arcade Archive
• The TVDB

So I deleted:

• Rotten Tomatoes
• Metacritic
• Discogs
• Pitchfork
• Drowned in Sound
• IMDB (writer), as this one is also accesable from IMDB.com itself.
• IMDB (director), as this one is also accesable from IMDB.com itself.

Marcel you have been busy! I would have expected google to localise itself automatically based on the ip the search was coming from but maybe I'm wrong.

Hard to be language aware just being a skin mod, this mod really wants to grow up and be a full plugin with user/location preferances, oh for more spare time!

Previous post updated with some new features:

-Added "Trailer" string to Movingpictures movietitle to get better search results.
-Added "Youtube gameplay" option to watch gameplay videos for games in Emulators2.

@Pog: I thought that to, but Google was still English, so now I changed .com into .nl and everything is fine.. About the multilanguage thing; maybe doskabouter knows how to add it to the installer of BTW..

I could add a dialog which lets the user choose, but now I've thought some more about it, I don't know if the btw plugin is the correct place to put an installer for a mod for a skin...
