Actually, MP storres the log in mediaportal.log and mediaportal.bak. Is it possible to keep the log before the last 2 times MP was opened?
This could be done by saving it in files with filename like "mediaportal_date.log". Or by appending the actual log to the end of the old log file.
Thanks

    Hi there

Unfortunately there is no automated way to accomplish.

Not sure if the following will be of any assistance, but here it is anyway:
The next best option, in my opinion, is to change your MP Shortcut to point to the MP Logs Collector.
If you launch MP everytime via the Logs Collector, it will create the zip file, with date already included in the filename, on your desktop each time you exit MP.

    Hope That Helps?

MediaPortal itself doesn't support such so you have to create some bat file that will handle the log file rotation on every MediaPortal startup.

    Hi, thanks for the help.
But its unuseful forme. My MP is automatically launched when windows starts in my htpc. If I point the shortcut to MP logs collector, this window always open before launching MP and I have to press the button:

I would prefer to create a batch file that would change the name of the file mediaportal.log to something like mediaportal_12-08-2009_1557.log so its not overwritten. But I dont know how to do this
    Any help?
    Thanks

    How?
Is it possible to create a bat file that adds date/time to the filename?

    Thanks

I can try and help you a bit later with the batch file, but will that really help?
Since you have the config option to start MediaPortal with windows, how will the batch file be started? Manually?

So you already have a way to tell windows to start a batch file?
Asking since I am not sure about that part. Maybe it is a registry setting.
