Movie quality using MediaPortal's default player (1 Viewer)

Hey man, I'm so happy. My new screen looks fantastic. Its exactly what I wanted, and I dont even have Blu Ray yet. I'm just testing some regular DVDs (700X480) and even then it looks sooooo sexy. I'm glad I paid the $70 more for the higher DCR.

Anyway, I'm waiting for my card and drive to arrive tomorrow. Probably wont do much until then. I'm gonna mess around with a few things and will keep you posted.

I did have some crappy tweaking questions:

-anyway to change the startup picture in StreamedMP? (it loads the movie seats but has the developers credits across them etc). Put a pic of the wife up there - will be fun.

-If I'm working, the MP window gets abandoned and my wife loses keyboard shortcut functionality. Will this happen with a remote? I really hope not. I want her to be able to do her thing without me getting in the way. I'm hoping the remote adds its own unique set of keys (like button XZY to replace B as a "stop video" shortcut from the keyboard). That way the shortcuts wont conflict and she can have access. Will this be the case or am I SOL? I really, really hope not.

startup screen = skins\streamedmp\media\ look for file with splashscreen in the name

it's possible, bc if MP is not active window then keystrokes will not goto active window, not sure about remote tho, maybe if you use IRSS plugin it might work

Yeah but once my desktop has control of the active window (like surfing in Chrome), if my wife wants to pause the movie and go make me dinner like a good woman, she cant do that right cause she doesnt have window control? Is it possible?

Hey man, PC is busy being formatted. All parts are installed, but waiting for a fresh OS to get up and running. I had a quick question in the meantime. Any idea if this remote will work?




Asus P5W DH Deluxe. It came with my mobo, never used it. Would be awesome to save some $$ and get it working with MP instead of buying a new one? I just dont know how hard it is to config a remote to MP.

if the remote can emulate keystrokes then it will work with mediaportal as long as mediaportal is the active window

Hey man,

I finally have things up and running. Went much smoother than I expected. Thanks again for all your help. I need to move into the remote control project now.

I've tested PDVD against WMP with the new drivers and new ATI 5770. PDWD still pawns. I dont understand WTF is going on. Even if I use PDVD's codecs, the quality in the PDVD window is at least 25-50% better. I just dont get it. Its got to be their color enhancing technology.

Anyway, I really way to use PDVD then as my default player. Its pretty cool cause so far it plays all my files (MKV too, dont know about HD mkvs though). I got the window maximized, its running smoothly, but my big question is about remote control functionality.

Can PDVD be configed to a MCE remote. If so, if I have control of the active window while working, will that leave PDVD dead in the water?

This part of the project is really confusing man. Not sure what the best way to solve the remote problem is. Trying to sort it out before I buy one cause I dont wanna waste $$ by getting the wrong one. Cyberlink has their own remote but I like the MCE ones.

mce remote can be used to control mediaportal.
I am 99% sure mce remote can be used with pdvd too
