Did you notice any changes if you changed codecs?
Do the vertical stripes change, or do they stay constant?
Do you have the Exclusive DirectX checkbox checked in the General section, in the configuration program?

I have similiar problem:
Some DVD's , not all , have "vertical disortion" in picture, not a line, but something resembling aliasing artifacts.
I use Cyberlink video/SP BD-HD decoder for video, and AC3 for audio.

about your question - then No i did not find a solution. however, I have found out that the problem is that the Motherboard is not fully compatible with directX 9.0c that was what i read at another forum (cant find the link anymore)

so the solution i used was simpel. I skipped the epia board and bourght a Asus P5E-VM board indstead. and it works perfectly.

Would really be interested in how much original hardware you kept, motherboard compatibility with various bits that MP communicates with (software wise), could be a bit of a unknown factor.

exept for the motherboard, everything is still the old stuff. I dont think that it is MP that is the problem. I had the problems in every media player i tried. and the Media portal software i used was an older version
