    Hi there,

I installed a new LG HD DVD/BR drive last week and everything has been working fine. However last night I inserted my first HD DVD (just arrived in the post). Sadly PDVD7 autostarted the disc at the same time that MediaPortal was loading and I got an error "MediaPortal has encountered an error and needs to close." during the Loading Windows Plugins section of the startup.

I went through each plugin in turn and disabled them and pinned the problem down to the Moving Pictures plugin (with that disabled MediaPortal booted fine.

I have tried reinstalling Moving Pictures but that didn't fix it. I have removed the MovingPictures.dll (and some of the other various files from the installation followed by a reinstall) but I still get the same crash at startup.

I also get it if I start up the Moving Pictures configuration programme within the MediaPortal configuration plugin section.

When I check to log, the only odd thing I can see is that it is "skipping the autoscan of K:" - with K: being the HD DVD/BR drive.

    Any ideas?

    Thanks

If you do not have too much of a collection, then try moving\deleting the Moving Pictures database\thumbs.

These can be easily located, there is a shortcut top left in MP config named user files, ones under database, the other is under the thumbs folder, see if that makes a difference.

Now rescan movies and see if error re-occurs.

    Thanks Ray,

I have already tried deleting the database for Moving Pictures, but I get the error before I get a chance to re-scan (about 5 seconds after starting the Moving Pictures config.

I might try pulling the plug on the K: and see if that makes a difference?

The other thing you could try, but means you need to reconfigure MP (all plugins\skins exist, just need enabling) is delete\move the mediaportal.xml, if that is corrupted may also give you some strange happenings with new hardware.

    Thanks again Ray,

I will try that in a bit and let you know the results

    Ray,

    IT WORKED.

IF I WERE A WOMAN I WOULD HAVE YOUR BABIES!

I hardly lost any settings either, so not much of a big effort to sort out after all!

    Thanks mate.
