Media Portal just hangs when I try to play any video file (not just in Moving Pictures). I then have to kill MP in task manager. When I disable the plugin, videos play as normal. Is anyone else experiencing this?

*UPDATE* I've replaced MediaInfo.dll with an older version from a backup I had of my RC2 install. Everything seems to work OK now.

Thank you! I just updated to RC3 and was having the same problems. I searched for mediainfo.dll on my computer (and found like 5 versions). I renamed the one in the mediaportal folder to mediainfo.old and copied one from 2/23/2010 into the folder. Now my movies are playing again.

i'm actually having the same symptoms only replacing mediainfo.dll didn't fix the problem. i had RC3 working fine, i changed codecs to SAF pack and that seemed to work fine for less than 24 hours before now i can't play anything from movng pictures without mediaportal locking up. i tried updating to RC4 and updated my streamedmp skin (which i believe updates movingpictures) but none of which has helped.

i can play video from mytvseries plugin just fine. any suggestions? this is so weird my movingpictures is crippled completely out of nowhere. i posted a log, but i can't make heads or tails of it. thanks everyone.

***videos crasg only after movingpictures has completely loaded. if i load mediaportal and go straight to an episode it will playback fine. but once movingpictures is finished loading the filtering menu and everything, any video playback with any plugin will crash. i tried this with the myvideos plugin and the mytvseries plugin. i can't think of any good troubleshooting methods, ths problem has literally come out of nowhere.

okay, looks like i've fixed my problem. i'm posting this to help anyone with my specific problem (try what everyone else did in this thread first). the issue i think is definately with mediainfo.

i apparently had the movingpictures importer set to not automatically grab mediainfo from the movies. i decided to put a check in for that option. it then grabbed all of the mediainfo automatically and gave me this horrible database crippling issue.

thankfully i had a backup of my old database. i restored the database file, made sure that "update mediainfo automatically" was not checked, and renamed any movingpictures mediainfo skin files to *.bak (no sense in only displaying half of my databases mediainfo)

so not only is everything working back the way it should (so far), but cycling through all my movies is a lot faster without the mediainfo skin files.

i hope this helped anyone who was still having problems after replacing the mediainfo.dll. with such problems, i can do without knowing which codecs were used to encode my movies.

I discovered an issue in MP-TVSeries, but since the actual cultprit is MediaPortal this would also cause a problem for MovingPictures.

    Read: https://forum.team-mediaportal.com/...ay-between-start-actual-playback-media-83226/

In short, MediaInfo.DLL v0.7.26 is needed, because any future version has problems on AVI files with AC3 audio codec.

I submitted the issue to MediaInfo bug tracker, so hopefully they can fix it soon, but till then you can manually correct it. The changelog between v0.7.26 and the current v0.7.33 is mainly regarding modern audio codecs, such as Dolby TrueHD.
