I have been using MP for years; I'm interested in using moving pictures, but I'm afraid to try ...

Why? Because I'm afraid it will do the same thing as the MP movie database and bluntly overwrite the existing carefully selected rescaled, resampled, etc. 'folder.jpg' cover images with random, poor quality, mismatching images. Will it, or are my jpgs save with Moving Pictures?

MovPics saves its cover art and backdrops in the following folder:

    (XP)
    C:\Documents and Settings\All Users\Application Data\Team MediaPortal\MediaPortal\thumbs\MovingPictures

    (Vista/7)
    C:\Users\All Users\Application Data\Team MediaPortal\MediaPortal\thumbs\MovingPictures

    Unless I am mistaken.

LRFalk01 is correct. All artwork and movie data is stored in your Application Data folder. Your movie folders will remain untouched. You should at least give the plugin a try, if you don't like it you can always disable or uninstall it.

    +1 on trying it.

Once you have it up and running correctly you will be amazed. hopefully version 0.8 is coming soon and the experience will just get even better.

Another vote to just give it a try, the Moving Pictures team has done a great job with this plugin.

Well, of course I couldn't ignore all that enthusiasm so I gave it go. And I must say I'm impressed. This was one of the things I had given up on after moving from MCE to MP, but this is fantastic. It didn't touch my folders and even used the existing folder.jpg by preference so they are 100%. Great work.

(you may feel this coming) ... BUT ...

Under MP's video section I have two directories, one 'movies children' and one 'movies parents', the latter is PIN protected. With a 9 and an 11 year old in the house and a collection of f.I. Tarantino movies that is more than wise.

I don't see a way in Moving Pictures to make such a split and protection. Did I miss it or should that be considered for a next release? Until then I just know what I'm missing :(
