Moving Pictures - noob question (1 Viewer)

Can someone please explain what the Moving Pictures plug-in is? I am currently just using the My Videos feature or whatever it is that comes with MediaPortal by default. I use the imdb database feature to get movie information but it takes forever to open my movies directory.

Is Moving Pictures basically a better version of My Videos? How does it get movie information and posters etc?
