Moving Pictures slow to list All Movies (1 Viewer)

Update #2 - I did a full reinstall of the whole machine. Then:

- mediaportal 1.1.0 rc4
- streamedmp 1.2.0.1410
- mp-tvseries 2.5.4.1080
- moving-pictures 1.0.4
- saf 4.0 final

Recreated all databases and thumbnails (didn't restore anything this time). Also moved my wireless aerial to a higher place where there was a consistent 300mbps signal. Everything worked perfectly... so I decided perhaps the hard wire wouldn't be necessary. No problems for a couple of days. A few new files have been moved in to tv series and moving pictures and the same problem is back. Still no further into figuring out a solution but just wanted to point out that it isn't necessarily a wireless problem.

I've reported a bug to MediaInfo developers (their DLL is used by MediaPortal, MovingPictures and MP-TVSeries), with regards to unexplained delays that only showed on a wireless connection (albeit mine was a lot slower then yours). If I used an older version (v0.7.26 to be exact), the problem went away. So try that (be sure to scan for any presence of mediainfo.dll incase you got multiple versions) and report back please (it will help others).

My problem was related to the delay between starting playback and when actual playback would start (delay could run into minutes) and it only was a problem on AVI files with AC3 audio codec, but perhaps your problem is caused by the same underlying cause.

To open up an old thread that seems to match my issue fairly closely. I was getting quite good performance out of Moving Pictures until recently. Now it's slllooooow.

My current setup:

- mediaportal 1.1.1
- latest streamedmp
- mp-tvseries 2.5.6
- moving-pictures 1.0.8
- saf 5.0

Just shy of 800 movies all stored locally, but accessed via a unc path (\\mediacentre\movies).
AMD X2-250 CPU, 4GB RAM, ATI5770, so not too shy on power, yet it's routinely taking between 1 and 2 minutes to bring up the movie list.

I've checked the logs several times even with scrap debug on and even though the delay is always consistently long, the logs do not present any obvious candidates to me. Once noticed the FileSync take 94 seconds, which seemed incredibly long. I'll post the logs tonight when I get home from work (forgot to copy them this morning).

Absolutely love Mediaportal and Moving Pictures, but with the time it's taking to respond lately it's getting a bit painful.

Any thoughts initially from the collective? As I said, will up the logs tonight, just wanted to get the ball rolling.

Solved my issue with poor moving pictures performance aswell, RoChess.
