Ok, So...

After a couple of days of messing with it, I figure its time to ask for help...

Problem: I can't play any video at all. On the bright side, My Music works like a charm.

As far as I can tell, its not a Codec issue, especially since WMP plays everything with no trouble. I've done some testing and playing with RL Filter Manager & Gspot, but not exactly knowing what to look for, makes it pretty much useless:confused: .

Not being able to play DVD either makes me think its more a player issue...

So this is what happens: Nothing... In the 'My Movies' Section, once you click to play a file, nothing happens, it just sits there.

When told to play a DVD, I get the 'Unable to Play Disc/Did you insert a disk' message.

Anyway, Attached are 3 logs; error log, MP log for video, and MP log for DVD.

Any help would be appreciated!

Edit: Did some more testing, Swaped the DNA drivers for ATI's own latest, which produced no results.

What happens if you use default codecs MPV + MPA.

Can you set MP to use powerDVD (installed) as external player, does that work ok.

Nothing really in the logs supplied, mediaportal.log is the one really needed for full information.

What file type used .avi .mpeg etc

MPV + MPA yields no results.

PDVD Does NOT display an image...Which is weird, so I'm looking into that. Edit: Ok, One problem down, PDVD plays ok now...I think it may have been the 1mm coating of dust on the disc...oops. However, The internal Player still refuses.

File Types, I've now Tried Xvid/Dvix .avi's and a couple of .wmv's, which of course don't play.

    Hi,
Try to set the audio renderer to "Directsound: (your soundcard name)" in MP Setup -> Movie -> Movie Player. It seems to be a filter problem.

    Regards

Thanks, but nope, doesn't solve the problem. I've pretty much cycled all the internal settings at this point, so it leads me to believe either MP simply doesn't want to play with a particular program/piece of hardware or It's a Driver issue with something, probably the video card.

So unless anyone has some other suggestions, I think I'll probably try going back in driver revision a couple of steps and see if anything works.

    I got it working!

It was indeed a driver issue, The catalyst 6.9+MP doesn't work with the x800xl, however i found no issues with them on a x1800xl.

Currently using the catalyst 6.2, will post later with the latest working driver version.
