I have today installed a new disk in my PC and done a clean install of Vista and MP 1.0.2 - after following the guide written by damaster (Haali, MPC etc.).

I also installed a trial copy of CoreAVC.

I now have a peculiar problem with HD TV, both live and recorded. I do not get a full image, just what appears to be a hugely zoomed square portion of the image. This happens with CoreAVC, ffdshow and MPC .h264 codecs.

SD TV is completely normal, as is the playback of .h264 encoded home videos I have (.m2ts files from a HD camcorder).

I have never seen this behaviour in RC3, RC4 or 1.0

I'm hoping that someone can point me at a simple setting I've overlooked somewhere so at this stage I've not posted logs. If necessary I will do that in the next few days.

this probably wont help you because you have likely already restarted the computer, but if not, try changing your screen resolution to any other display resolution, apply, and change back.

Very long shot but only takes a second to try.

Right click on playing tv -> aspec ratio = normal

Load nvidia -> adjust screen resolution and overscan settings

Change settings on your display/tv -> change zoom mode/16:9/4:3/letterbox/1:1 pixel mapping modes

Thanks to both of you, but I had already tried those suggestions.

As it happens, the disk has turned out to be so noisy in use that it's completely unnacceptable in an HTPC in the lounge so it's going back and I've gone back to MP1.0 on the other disk.

Something of a brutal way to solve a problem!
