MP 1.0.2 & strange LAN bandwidth slowdown (1 Viewer)

As of yesterday I have noticed a slowdown in internet bandwidth on my laptop at home.

After checking for viruses and spyware I shut down my WinXP sp3 htpc just to see if that was the problem, and sure enough my laptop returned to normal surfing speeds.

Next I started the htpc and web surfing was still fine on the laptop.

Then I started the mediaportal client on the htpc and then bam, slow internet on my laptop!

Now WTF could be going on? Is MP client doing something to the LAN?

Thanks for any thoughts,

Jay

Hello,

Can you list all the additional plug-ins you use within MediaPortal or is it just a standard installation with no plug-ins?

Thanks.

Gary.

Thanks for your reply.

I discovered that this was NOT a problem with mediaportal, but my network settings. I had been using manually set IP addresses in the tcpip settings (of the htpc) with no problem until 2 days ago. I changed them to use dhcp from my router and the rest of my LAN began running at normal speeds. It looked like it was corresponding to mediaportal, but with more testing I realized I was wrong. I still don't know why problem started to begin with...it was working fine.

My wife and I love mediaportal!

Hello,

OK no worries, possibly your DHCP server assigning the same IP address to your laptop that was set manually on your HTPC?

Anyway MediaPortal is a great product, I must agree!!! Really looking forward to v1.1 and MP II.

Thanks.

Gary.
