I have been on MP 0.2.3.0 RC2 for a while now and when having a look over the Christmas break I tried installing MP 1.0.0.0 RC4 but the software is very unstable and crashed everytime. This happens after I have navigated to any section of MP like Movies, TV, Music, etc. After navigating for a few seconds the screen freezes and I notice the MP log collector dialog box appear.

I then tried various other releases like MP 1.0.0.0 RC, latest SVNs, etc but have the same issue.

I would very much like to upgrade to the latest version but it is completely un-usable for me. when I go back and install the old version (0.2.3.0 RC2) all works fine but the newer version always crash.

I'm attaching the log files. Could someone please help me. Thanks.

Might also be a corrupt installation. Another user with similar line in error.log. A developer's response on that one:
    Hi,

looking at your logs (in particoular error.log) I really think you messed up the whole MP install:

    Code:
2008-12-20 08:11:32.375000 [ERROR][SplashScreen]: Error during splashscreen handling: Could not find a part of the path 'D:\Program Files\Team MediaPortal\MediaPortal\Skin\BlueTwo\references.xml'.

    Hi rekenaar,

Many thanks for pointing me in the right direction. I will have a look at the threads that you recomended and see if that resolves the issue.

I will post the result back in this thread. But if unsuccessful would certainly appreciate more help.

As rekenaar helpfully pointed out in post 2, I got it working by installing Catalyst 7.2. All works fine now. Thanks for your help.
