if you want that both TV-Cards are able to tune your scrambled channels, then you need a CAM and a Smartcard in every TV-Card (2 in your case).
So it isnt possible to record a scrambled stream and decode that later (at night for instance) when the cam is available (no live tv)?

make sure that the CAM is able to decode multiple streams at the same time, so you can use the "multitune feature" as described above, in TV-Server.
This comes close to standalone receivers (Topfield, etc) to record multiple stream. How can someone tell if streams are on the same transponder?
Aston Multicam should be one of them i guess?
In short:
I have one LNB, one DVB-S card and a multi-cam + canal digital subscription; i can record multiple streams and perhaps watch one too ? (if on the same transponder). All with one subscription. Now THAT is great stuff !!!

MediaPortal is not that easy to install if you do it the first time. but i am a very happe mediaPortal user and would never "downgrade" to MCE ;)
Running latest SVN now without any tv-cards (mostly dvd's, photo's and music now). But running great.

Regards,

Gerwin

    if TV-Server is currently recording something and you enter MyTV -> press "channel button", then all channels which are "gryed out" can not be tuned, because there is no free TV-Card for them.

    those channels which can be tuned even if all cards ar busy, are those which are on the same transponder as the currently tuned channels.

    for "general information" which channels are on which transponder, i suggest to have a look at www.kingofsat.org

    Great

    Can the 'greyed out' channels issue be solved by adding second card, using dual-lnb and using 2 cards from canal digital?

    I think i'll just buy a card and see how it works. TV-server looks appealing. Just put it in the barn where my dish is located, add big hard drive, et Voila :)

    if a channel is "greyed out" then there is no free TV-Card available.

    i.e.
    Case1:
    1. TV-Card 1 with CAM + smartcard -> records channel A
    2. TV-Card 2 (no CAM, no smartcard) -> is idle
    3. now you open MyTV -> channels
    4. then all channels which are not one the same transponder as "Channel A" and channels which are not mapped on TV-Card 2 (scrambled channles then) are greyed out

    Case2:
    1. TV-Card 1 with CAM + smartcard -> records channel A
    2. TV-Card 2 with CAM + smartcard -> is idle
    3. now you open MyTV -> channels
    4. then all channels are displayed normaly and can be tuned since you have a free TV-Card available

    Case3:

    1. TV-Card 1 with CAM + smartcard -> records channel A on Transponder1
    2. TV-Card 2 with CAM + smartcard -> records channel B on Transponder2
    3. now you open MyTV -> channels
    4. then all channels which are not on transponder 1 or 2 are greyed out.

    I hope this helps :)
